President’s Place – A Note from Brad Campbell
In last month’s issue of The Commentator ,I wrote about the Limited Legal Consultation services benefit you receive as a member of CMEA. This was the first in a series of articles I will be writing over the next several months which looks at the lineup of benefits offered to members of CMEA.
I want to share with you this month information about another benefit provided to all members. This second program is our Unlimited Confidential Hotline call Service, for HR and Labor related questions.
I have to admit that when I first arrived at CMEA this program wasn’t what it needed to be. Many times calls would come in that just never got addressed. If a response was provided it could be 2, 3 or even 4 days or more after the call was placed. How could you call that a Hot Line?
Well, like so many things time does change things. We have improved our Hot Line call program significantly. When you call we get back to you usually the same day to get more information from you or to provide a response to your question. Not every call can be answered when we speak. Sometimes additional research needs to be done prior to providing you with an answer. Most often the answer to your question is run by an attorney at Skoler and Abbott to ensure accuracy.
There are those times that I won’t provide an answer to your question. Very simply I may determine that discussing your issue with an Attorney may be the more appropriate response. In these instances, I will encourage you to speak with an attorney at Skoler and Abbott. Due to the sensitivity of the issue, it may be important to maintain the attorney client privilege. If that should happen the limited Attorney Consultation benefit can be used for that discussion.
Please put me to the test. Don’t hesitate contacting me with a question. Call anytime you need help finding something to make your job easier. I am in my office (508-481-5244) most every day and can always be reached on my mobile phone.
That number is listed on my auto response should I not be in. I actually want and like to talk with members, so please if you haven’t called in a while give us another chance. I know you will be pleased.
Thank you as always for your support. Please remember that this is your association. I am here to help and deliver for you.
Below is a quick note from one of our valued members about the benefits of membership:
“As a new person to HR and all its rules and laws, I have reached out to CMEA’s Hotline Service many times over the past year. I have found them to be quick, knowledgeable, thorough, patient and know when to call when an email just wont do. “

I hope that this article has opened your eyes to another really great CMEA benefit.
See you all next month, until then please stay healthy.
