AMERICAN RED CROSS
Ready 365 Program
Central Massachusetts Home Fire Campaign
There are on average 2 home fires in Central Massachusetts each and every day and sadly in some, first responders and loved ones have lost their lives.
We have experienced both first-hand in Central Mass in the last few years. In an effort to reduce the number of home fires in our community the American Red Cross has developed The Home Fire Campaign (HFC) which helps save lives, homes and memories by installing free smoke alarms in homes that don’t have them and by educating people about home fire safety.
The HFC includes a Sound the Alarm Event, where volunteers donate weekend time to install fire alarms in homes, test existing fire alarms, and map out an escape route in case of fire with occupants of the home. Unfortunately, the upcoming Sound the Alarm Event, on May 8th in Worcester, will not allow for us to enter homes at this time. However, we will continue to focus on community outreach, emergency preparedness education, and virtual home fire education presentations. People will also have the opportunity to sign up for fire alarm installation which will occur once we are informed it is COVID safe to do so.
Financial support of Community Partners like you will enable us to continue this life saving work. Together we can make a difference in our community. As a sponsor of the Home Fire Campaign, you will receive benefits of our Ready 365 Giving Program, attached below.
Since 2014, the American Red Cross Home Fire Campaign has had an ambitious goal of reducing home fire deaths and injuries in our nation by 25%. I invite you to help me make this happen in Central Mass!

I thank you in advance for your consideration!

Red Cross Central MA Volunteer,
Board of Director Member & Philanthropy Committee Chair
Note: There is lots to be done by the Red Cross to spread the word in educating people on preventative measures against disasters (not just fires), and in responding once disaster does occur. If you are looking to volunteer your time, I am happy to share all the opportunities available. This includes being a Board Member which l personally find very gratifying.
